Universal Device Service 6.2.1 ERROR message:Cannot find requested collection element

Hello,

I have BES 5.0.3 Express, Exchange 2007 SP2, now I am truing to install Blackberry Enterprise Service 10 on separate Windows 2008 R2 Server.

I have successfully install Blackberry Device Service and can activate and manage my test Blackberry PlayBook.

When I try to install Universal Device Service  on the same server using the same instance of DB, ports 8082 and 8443, (self-signed certificate fro IIS) I got the following error at the end of installation.

The BlackBerry Universal Device Service installation failed.  For more information, check the installation log files on the computer.  The log file location is

C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Universal Device Service\Logs\Installer\. Click OK to exit the setup application.

Where I can found only one log with error:

ERROR message:Cannot find requested collection element

Please advice.

Thank you

Re: Universal Device Service 6.2.1 ERROR message:Cannot find requested collection element

your setup log will likely still be in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\init.log folder.  However you can't use a self-signed certificate for the comunication website.  It needs to be signed by a CA

I have exported SSL certificate signed by a CA and got the same result.

Is it still certificate issue?

[ Edited ]

Can you validate that you are able to open the Core's web.config file while logged in with the account used while trying to install UDS and add a white space to the end of it and save.  Your log shows:

Failed to update DataProviderEncryptionKey value in Core's web.config

The file can be found in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\Universal Device Service\Core

Also I would advise uninstalling the existing failed installs and deleting the UDS folder from program files prior to installing again.  Then create a new database when installing.

Do you mean the SSL certificate used by the Communication website?  If so, it must be set to the external public DNS that devices will be using to talk to the Communication website.

Re: Universal Device Service 6.2.1 ERROR message:Cannot find requested collection element

Would you suggest I set the the external public DNS on the Communications website to something like

'mdm.domain.com' or 'uds.domain.com' or something like that?

Makes sense - but what you choose should depend on your company naming conventions and not to complex to type (users have to type it on an iOS/Android)
