terminology question

Just got back from my BES course, typing my notes up and want to get things right...

What exactly is a SRP server?  We have our BES server and then RIM have their RIM servers but I'm looking through our course manual and keep seeing an SRP server referred to which from the context, I think they're meaning the RIM server.  I thought SRP was a protocol...

Re: terminology question

SRP is the license that connects to the SRP server at the RIM NOC over port 3101

Re: terminology question

To better explain, SRP is RIM's own proprietary protocol -  it stands for 'server routing protocol' and is used to transfer data between your BES and the RIM Relay. The communication takes place over port 3101 which is validated by using the SRP ID and auth key that you enter whe you first install BES.
