unable to send activation email

It appears I am unable to send UDS activation emails.  Everytime I try to activate and send email, I get the following error :

The system updated the device activation settings but could not send the activation email message.

Have read other posts here regarding this issue, and have spent days trying to solve.  Log files show the following information :

The transport failed to connect to the server.

Type: System.Web.HttpException

Message: The transport failed to connect to the server.

Obviously something not correct in SMTP Server Configuration, but have no idea what it might be.  Have tried all different types of combinations, with this seeming to be the most popular :

Servername = exchangeserver.mycompany.com

Port # = 25

Authentication Type = Credentials

Username = myusername

Handshake Type = Basic

No SSL

Have tried every know combination of the above, yet still get error message when trying to send activation emails.

Anyone have any ideas for me to try ?

Please use plain text.

Re: unable to send activation email

Try:

Servername = exchangeserver

Port # = 25

Authentication Type = Credentials

Username = username

Password: {password}

Handshake Type = Basic

No SSL

In my case, as I have a BES as well, I use the BES Svc Acc.

From the server console for UDS, validate you can telnet the server on port 25.

Please use plain text.

Re: unable to send activation email

Also make sure you set an email address in the "Activation Email" and "Compliance Notification" section.

Former at least.

Please use plain text.
