I currently have a trial version of the BES and recently purchased the BES so now I have new license info.  Can I upgrade the BES by replacing some license data in the DB or do I have to totally reinstall and reprovision my current users that I have setup?

As long as all users are using current OS versions (4.0 or above), you can replace the trial key with the full one.  New service book data will be pushed to the HHs wirelessly and you'll continue to function as expected.

Thanks for the response.  You are right, I could just put in a new key.  I found that my issue was that I was trying to enter the key during the install but you cannot do that when going from a trial key to a fullly activated key.  I used the trial key again and then once the bes was up and running I went into license  management and put the new key in there.  Now it is the fully activated version.

Hi Andy,

can the same be said if we are running the Professional Software? I'm concerned about having to re-activate 20 phones now that I have new CAL's to replace the trial.

is that same thing unless you are upgraging from PRO to BES, you have to install BES and add the key. Did this a few months ago. No worries, it keeps all the data intact if upgrading the same server and no reactivations needed. just service books are sent automatically upon upgrade.
