Exchange and BES have been patched with no issues.

The issues people seem to have are if their rights are not set as per the change MS made last year.

Is it neccesary to install patch 959897 on the BES server as well?  I have read some other threads online and some people haven't patched their blackberry server? 

Considering the cdo.dll version is going to change on the exchange 2003 sp2 servers should I patch by BES 4.1.2 as well with the microsoft patch?

I opened a ticket w/ RIM last Friday and haven't gotten a clear answer on that.  Only that it's "ok" to patch the exchange server, but have been told that RIM hasn't "green lighted" it for approval and are still testing.  So for approx. one week, RIM has had this patch and haven't confirmed that it needs to be applied on the BES. 

I pointed out a KB article on the RIM site that goes against their recommended configuration since like you said, the exchange versions of cdo.dll and mapi32.dll are going to be ahead of the BES versions. 

I have tried to reach out to our carriers and their direct RIM contacts in order to get a straight answer.  If you hear anything, please let me know.

Did you test out calendar sync yet?

mainly the appointments part. creat one on BB and in outlook(if you use it) do they both sync fine?

I completed patching on Exchange 2003 sp2 and BES 4.1.2.  No issues found.  Tested messaging and Calendar syncs both ways. We have over 1000 BES users and none has reported any issue so far.  12 hours and counting....

I patched Exchange 2003 sp2 on Feb. 10th when the patch came out.  Our BES (4.1.6 mr3) runs on the same box as our Exchange 2003.  No issues found.  We have been running our BES on our Exchange box from  day one, BES Version 4.0
