BES SBE 4.1.6 and BESX 5.0 on 1 Exchange Server

Hi,

Newbie post so I hope it's in the correct section and I'm not asking something that's been answered many times before!

We are currently running BES SBE 4.1.6 and have reached the 15 user maximum - now we need to add a couple more users.

My preferred solution would be to purchase the unlock for SBE and go to full BES 4.1.6, however the board will not approve the cost, leaving me the option to either re-allocate an existing user licence (tricky) or move to the free BES Express.

I've downloaded the new BES Express 5 to test, but before I do anything with it I would like to know if there is any issue with me setting it up on a test server and connecting it to our existing Exchange Server? Ideally I'd like to trial it alongside our existing BES SBE for a couple of users to see if the features included will be sufficient for us.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Dave.

I recommend using RackSpace's cloud services as a test environment.  You could use their instant resources to host the BESX while you get used to the software before migrating.

you can only install 1 BES on 1 server.

You can have 2 BES servers talk to one exchange server.

That's what I was hoping. Am I safe to assume then that the two BES servers will not interfere with each other?

Had a similar situation, only we host a little for some of our clients. I'm currently funning BES 4.1.6 on a VM and the new BESX on a separate VM, both running against an Exchange 2007 server. No problems at all!
