Dear All
I´m a private user, I have a BlackBerry 9700, v5.0.0.593, the Carrier is an Italian one (named Vodafone), I believe my current account is BIS type (this should be confirmed in the section "servicebook", where I read "5 Click BisClientconfig).
The blackberry is a second hand device, that was used in Switzerland with another carrier.
I would like to receive the emails from my enterprise server. After several trials, the server administrator informed me that, basing on his experience, the problem was due to the fact that my actual data channel is BIS and not BES.
He suggested to change from BIS to BES the type of service I have.
I tried to contact the helpdesk of Vodafone, the carrier, but several unexperienced people reply. The last one told me that this change of configuration should be performed directly on my device - and is not under the carrier responsibility.
Two questions:
- is the carrier right, or is in the carrier responsibility to change from BIS to BES?
- what shall I do in order to get BES service?
Kindly consider that I´m quite unexperienced, too - this is my first experience with BB: so, please, when you will try to give me some explanations, explain this as to a child...![]()
Have a great day.
Icaro

You carrier needs to provision the dataplan with BES on it. not the consumer plan BIS.
it is tough to get your point across sometimes as the new hires dont know about it.
