when user are trying to access the internet on their device they keep being asked for their username and password for the proxy server, this has only started happening recently and we are unaware of any changes.

what would affect this? and do you know of any solutions/config settings that i may have missed?

If you try to browse Internet from BES IE would it ask you for the user credentials? What version of BES are you running on the network?

Is it an issue with all users, or a specfic user?

it is all users, i have checked the bes proxy settings and they are correct, its as if they are not checking the proxy rules before connecting.
