I've been trying to figure this out, if i want to keep GPS software open for users while driving. The password / security policy keep lock the device and turn of display.
I've bin trying with all kind of application settings, changes to the IT policy regarding the security and allow the security timer to be reset by applications. But nothing seems to work.
Anyone have experience with this ?
Thank you in advance

did you have the Periodic Challenge Time role in effect? that will override it.

If the policy was set before deploying the app or what do you mean ?
And so, do i need to remove the IT policy on every device where I want this GPS software installed ?
Do you have a guide or anything like that ?

every BES device has an IT policy. Did you ever modify yours?
the role I was talking about might have been enabled in IT policy.
IT POLICY
You can find all the available IT policies from the Policy Reference Guide @
http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/li
The Admin Guide will give you details information of how to assign IT policy
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/deliverables/3510/Bla
Basically
1. In the BlackBerry® Manager, in the left pane, click BlackBerry Domain.
2. On the Global tab, click Edit Properties.
3. Click IT Policy.
4. In the IT Policy Administration section, double-click IT Policies.
5. Click an IT policy.
6. Click Properties.

Sorry for not replying to this sooner.
The default policy when installing BES and EA devices does not have a password policy set.
Så yeah i changed the policy to require password.
How do i get the GPS app, or any other app for that matter, to bypass the security timer and leave the app open.
Does anyone know one app, which reset the security timer, just for testing purpose ?

there is no app to bypass it, unlike other phones BlackBerry is built on security.
you only have the GPS timer to keep GPS open, it will not affect other apps.
read through the policy guide and maybe you used a few more settings than needed for your task.
