My Knife edge cutover to new hardware

Luckymy decomssioned web server was almost the same server as the BES (different BUS speed)

 

Day 1:
RTFM

setup win 2k, drivers, static IP, join domain
setup firewall for internet access and port 3101 out
apply local policy for log on and log on as service for BESAdmin and local login as well
upgrade to MDAC 2.8
update M$ update
install IE6 before antivirus
install 70+ windows updates
install Media player 9
install ESM only and exchange sp2

 

Day 2: 4:38 PM
shut off services on old BES
Install new bes with same instance name and use remote SQL database
install MR3
Reboot
watch all connecting getting new SB's
send test message out with this in subject line
<$confirm,removeondelivery> Test BES 123
4:58 PM first confirmed recieved

 

Day 3:
Stop services on new BES
Start old BES and found MDS CS not working
Change MDS CS mapping, restart MDS connection service

All is well.

 

I am going to treat my self to the good beer tonight.

Finished upgradeing my storage array and all is well.

 

Did a double knife edge

knife edge to temp server

upgrade storage array and reinstall OS and BES and knife edge back again.

 

This is getting fun.
