Hi everyone,
I just installed a BES and I am trying to understand how IT policies related to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager work. For instance, there is the "Disable Media Manager" IT policy rule that I can toggle to Default, true or false. Does an installation of BlackBerry Desktop Manager retrieves that policy by directly pulling it from the BES on my network or from the BlackBerry Device (which itself received the policy) plugged in the computer where is installed BlackBerry Desktop Manager ?
I am actually trying to troubleshoot why some of my policies are applied to my BB device correctly and that the policies that would help me to customize BlackBerry Desktop Manager do not seem to be effective, whether I plug my device (usb) in or not.
Thank you for your help!

IT POLICY
You can find all the available IT policies from the Policy Reference Guide @

The Admin Guide will give you details information of how to assign IT policy

Basically

Thanks for your answer knottyrope, but I already know the recipe for assigning IT policy to blackberry devices.
I know the policies assignment process is not "all wrong" in my setup, because some policies I set are taking effect correctly on my blackberry device. For example, if I set the "Disallow Third Party Application Downloads IT policy rule" to "true" and that the policy is linked to a User Group, a BB device associated with a user member of that group will effectively receive the policy and no "third party application downloads" are permitted.
However, my problem is that I'm setting, for example, the "Disable Media Manager" to "true" and that I see no effect on my "BlackBerry Desktop Manager": I can still launch the "Media Manager" from it.
These facts make me think there might be something different for policies that are customizing to the "BlackBerry Desktop Manager".
So, am I on the wrong track when I say that just by setting the "Disable Media Manager IT policy rule" to "true", the "Media Manager" should become unusable through the "BlackBerry Desktop Manager" ?
Thanks again in advance for your help.
