One of our BB users recently lost their device. We initiated a ‘Delete all device data and disable device’ request on the BES Express Server, for the lost device, and this was queued. As I understand it the request has been queued on the sever for the following reason from a technical article: -
The smartphone must be turned on and in a wireless coverage area sufficient enough to receive the command. If the smartphone is turned off or is out of a wireless coverage area, the command is queued on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server until the smartphone is turned on or returns to a wireless coverage area.
We believe the device is either turned off, the battery has run out or it was damaged at the time of loss as the server cannot complete the command for the above reason.
If someone uses the sim card, of the lost BB, in a different BB will the wipe work then or is the sim 'locked' to the device?
Thanks
Dan
Also, If someone uses the sim card in a different BB will your wipe work then or is it device specific?

Wipe will only work if
Device is on and Device has a SIM in it with a BlackBerry dataplan.
Hopefully you have a password policy so it will wipe after 10 tries.

Will no doubt seem a silly quesion but if someone uses the sim card, from the lost BB, in a different BB will the wipe initiated on the BES still work? Or will it fail without the correct sim/BB combination? I assume emails, data, etc. is held on device and may still be susceptible.

it wipes by PIN of device, the SIM only suplies a data connection to the carrier.
