Are you BIS or BES?
BIS -
First, remove all of the Desktop service books from the BlackBerry smartphone.
If installed desktop manager with integration option with 'Blackberry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Desktop Redirector' then this could happen. If either the Email Settings or Redirector Settings icon is displayed, uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Manager or modify the configuration of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager to support the BlackBerry Internet Service.
In your PC Go to Control Panel -> Click Add / remove programs -> select Blackberry Desktop Manager -> click Change/Remove -> click modify -> then instead of selecting the checkbox for Enterprise Server/Redirector select the checkbox next to Blackberry Internet Service. This should will solve the problem.

hi Freind,
if you configure your mail using POP3/IMAP/OWA that means you using BIS or you have configure your corporate email account with real synch that means BES. but i am sure to you can configure the BIS account and in Laptop/PC you can install BES so remove the DM and reinstall it using BIS service .after that remove the service book and send again.
regards
Dhaval.

One more step:
- Make sure and do a full reboot of your phone (remove battery for 10 seconds) or the procedure above may not work. I had to do this to get it to work.

I followed your instructions but could not find either of the two items to delete from the service book.
Any advice?

I did the above mentioned after I reinstalled my DM and configured using BIS. I haven't had to do the hard reboot, taking out the battery. So far, so good!
