Replacement Z10 not recognized by Link !

Smashed my two month old Z10 and bought a replacement; BB ID doesn't want to recognize the new phone in BB Link, and keeps selecting the old phone. Because it's completely dead, I can't access anymore.

Experts out there - any suggestions on how to get BB Link select or recognize the new Z10 for automatic linking ??

BB Link does recognize the new phone, and I can perform back-ups etc; however when connecting to BB ID, the old Z10 is selected as linked to my blackberry ID.

Re: Replacement Z10 not recognized by Link !

Hey,

Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.

Try removing the old BlackBerry Z10 smartphone from the BlackBerry Link software:

1. Open BlackBerry Link.
2. At the bottom of the screen, click your device.
3. Click the Settings icon.
4. In the Settings view, in the left pane, click Remove Device.
5. Click OK.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks.

Re: Replacement Z10 not recognized by Link !

Hiya - thanks for the response.

Have done that already a few times; old device keeps popping up when I register to BlackBerry ID; I think it must be linked to my BlackBerry ID somehow...

Any suggestions ??

Thx

Glenn

Hey gcoenen,

Try uninstalling the BlackBerry Link software and then re-install and test.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks

This was the only way I could get the Link software to work.

Re: Replacement Z10 not recognized by Link !

Thanks ! However did that last week; they actually gave me a new laptop so I had to install the BB Link software again anyway; still linked the old device...

Running out of ideas here...

Cheers ! G

Hi gcoenen,

Sorry for the confusion, I misunderstood this issue.

Your BlackBerry ID would still be associated to the Old BlackBerry Z10 smartphone, this cannot be changed unless the BlackBerry ID was changed on the Old BlackBerry Z10 smartphone, as yours was damaged this was not possible.

This is oulined in the BlackBerry Link manual: When you are signed in with a BlackBerry ID, the devices associated with that BlackBerry ID can't be removed.

 http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/49304/lym1339789524076.jsp

For example I have three BlackBerry devices associated with my BlackBerry ID and when I sign in to BlackBerry Link with my BlackBerry ID they are all listed, If I remove the device they return once I sign back in to BlackBerry Link with my BlackBerry ID.

Let me know if you have any questions.
