Re: Using Link to import Calendar & Contacts to Z10

I took my Z10 back and returned to my older Blackberry 9900.  I have a Galaxy S3 coming, and doubt I will ever be a BB customer again.  How can any company be so dumb?  You can sync pictures and music, but you cannot use it for business!  A poor rendition of the iphone, and just as worthless!  I doubt many of their customers are children who just want to play games and listen to music.  Some of us actually work and pay taxes!  We want a tool that will help us.

Mine is syncing contacts and calendar decently. Not perfectly, but certainly well enough that I've moved and continuing business and paying taxes, etc., and life goes on.

Not on some malware ridden android phone.

Re: Using Link to import Calendar & Contacts to Z10

Dear 'resident expert'

Err I am complaining because BB have got this totally wrong. But I am also asking how I can do simple adult/business orientated stuff like sync with desk-based outlook - like we used to be able to do with BB - that emphasis was one of the many reasons BB were popular.

My angst as so many who have had this smartphone/dumbcompany for a few months is that the change from adult/business to child/toy was NOT ADVERTISED as a core component of BB10, if does not however alter my question so - is there a way to do the above ??

I respect your residency and your expertise - so please do not try to belittle me. DO you think it is correct that we have been sold a pup under a BB badge ?.

I would presume BB have a lot of programmers and support staff available - do you think their priority should be porting yet more childish 'apps' or restoring fundamental BB functionality that ought to have been in place at launch.

Hi - Yes it does with Exchange server but NOT desktop installations of Outlook. Most businesses are small and most dont have their own Exchange infrastructures.

That is the issue most are complaining about here.

adrianyallop, your snarkery isn't helping any. If you can be snarky, why can't I?  Seems fair...

Yes, there is a way. I've gotten mine setup. No it's not ideal. Yes, it works. No, I don't like being forced to it. Yes, there are advantages over the new method (even me, an old cumurdgeon, can admit).

RIM personnel aren't sitting around porting "childish apps". Developers are. Lots of them. Those developers don't work for RIM/BlackBerry.

No. I think that is your opinion. You can have your opinion. All "opinions" are not fact. It's your experience, so be it. It is not my experience.

If you need help with the core issue here, please ask.

Re: Using Link to import Calendar & Contacts to Z10

Whaddya know, BB added it right around the U.S. release date.  I'm glad that 45 page thread of complaints is over.

Glad to see it's working now.

Re: Using Link to import Calendar & Contacts to Z10

OK - I have tried this synch twice and it doesn't work very well. In short: it doesn't synch from my Outlook 2010 Calendar completely. I have three email accounts in Outlook and all three replicated to the Z10. I follow the instructions to the letter but the ONLY Calendar item replicated is just ONE recurring appointment. All of the other hundreds of appointments don't come over. Any clues as to why it has selected only one recurring appointment and ignored every other?

I did an experiment this morning and added a new Appointment to Outlook. Then I used Link to upload it to the Z10. It seems to process fine but the appointment doesn't appear on my phone. Useless. Am I missing something? I would really like this to work and this function was the one thing I needed BB to get right. I waited with bated breath for the synch function to appear so this has been a bitter disappointment.

Re: Using Link to import Calendar & Contacts to Z10

How right you are about this.

Can I suggest all those with this problem mail/email BB direct and demand a refund on their phones.

One thing I am surprised about is how the specialist media have not picked up on this issue. One can only assume that their journo's don't do a lot of research. CNET, who do seem quite keen on slagging off anything not an iDob would seem to have an interest in this.

Don't get me wrong I am not wanting BB to fail of this phone to hit the wall I am just totally effed off by their attitude - this is not an obscure minor issue - it is previous coreBB  functionality. And it was removed without anyone advising previous users.
