Are iTunes and iPhoto required for syncing videos and pictures through Link? I organize most of my media outside of these applications. 

For example I keep my photos and movies in regular folders on my Mac. So it would be nice to be able to sync these folders with folders on my PlayBook in some way.

BlackBerry Link requires iTunes version 10 or later and iPhoto '09 or later for media synchronization.

Is there any other way to transfer pictures from BB 10 to mac? I have older version of iphoto and don't intend to upgrade to iphoto 11 as it costs $!5. 

i was also trying to share all my pictures from BB 10 to dropbox or box but it doesn't allow me to share multiple pictures at once. Sharing features seems to work with one picture at a time. I don't know what settings to change if there is one at all. Please advise.

yes you can use your Z10 as an external hard drive. Either as a simple USB stick, or as a WiFi sharing.

This works easily for MacOSX (with Finder) and for Windows (with Explorer).
