BB 8120 locks up, and powers off at times, needs battery pull to reset

Purchased new from Cincinnati Bell in April 09.
Firmware is V4.5.0.52 / 2.7.0.66.

With a 2 gig sd card.

The phone powers off while in use or sometimes just while setting idle.

The phone locks up while deleting email for example.
In either case it requires a battery pull before it will come on or start working again.

After a bettery pull I will sometimes have to do it again within a few hours, next time it might be 3-5 days before it fails again.

I check the battery and internal memory several times a day, and there is always 17-19 mbytes of internal memory and 90-100 percent battery when the failures occur.

Is there a known fix for this?

The Blackberry site software upgrade for CIncinnati Bell users shows the same version that I already have.

What other options do I have since I can't trust this phone for emergencies.

Sincerely,

Pvee

Hello Pvee and welcome to the forums!

It sounds like an issue with the OS on the device, even if you are up to date there could still be something corrupt in the software I would suggest reloading the software using the link below.

About three weeks ago I turned off WiFI and it has not failed one time since then.

I did not reload the software yet.

If this works I can get by without WiFi turned on.

Thanks for the reply.
