BBPearl 8220 contact list

Just within the last few days the contact list on my BB Pearl  has stopped functioning.  Can't edit, can't, add new contacts.  I haven't done anything to have caused this that I know of.  I have backed up the contact list with the desk top manager.  Anyone have any ideas?

Excuse me, I have the very same problem, I can't add nor edit any new contact, at first, cause my cellphone is kind of new, I could add some contacts but like 4 days later i coudn't. I alredy restarter my phone too many times and the uncaught exception still appearing...

My BB model is 8520, my BB OS .. I think it is 5.0.0.1036, my country carrier is Mexico/Telcel, and the apps i have add are MiTec, Scanlife, Buble Bash 2, Whatsapp, facebook, Messenger and Blackberry msn..

It seems this problem arrose after updating various apps. this article suggest a few that are to blame however it didn't help me directly but i did install a windows msgrupdate about the same time as i noticed the problem.

What worked for me is kinda a distasteful method but i was not worried about keeping anything on my phone except contacts, email and a few msgs. everything i wanted of value i pulled off first then did a backup and a sync. deleteing recently updated didn't help me the damage was done so it seemed. so i wiped the phone using the BB desktop tool.

 

I last used the tool a few years ago and found it to be ... well...  and it still is. the hardest part is installing the thing. installation is a COMMON issue it seems. installation aside it went well. i started to restore specific things after the wipe. If you want more restored your welcome to do so but i suspect it is related to a permissions issue caused by one of my apps or app update. so restore only 1 or 2 things at a time if the problem returns then you found your issue. If it does not fix it you have a backup to fully restore from and nothing lost.

 

I hope this helps you in your frustration i was ready to switch to a new phone maker before i tried this.

PS internet connectivity was necessary for the computer to install the desktop program.
