My call log and text message history are cleared every couple of days does anyone know how to stop this from happening?

Yes, both are symptoms of low memory on the device.

Look at Options > Status. What is the File Free number there?

it says 655456 bytes free- does it need to be higher- if so how do I fix that?

Yes, that is barely over 1/2 MB free memory. I would recommend you stay upwards of 10MB free... like 15 MB free.

First thing? Remove the battery of your device, hold a minute, replace and reboot and check the File Free again. What is it now?

it now says 7444660 is that better??

It is MUCH better but could still be higher.  Do you have a lot of third party apps or games on the phone?  Delete anything you don't use by clicking on options, advanced options, and then applications.  You can then highlight an app and hit the menu key and select delete. But please do not delete ANYTHING unless you know what it is.

Did you know that when you close an app by hitting the red hang-up key, this doesn't close the app but kinda keeps it running in the background.  When you are finished with an app hit the menu key and select close or exit.  To see which ones are open hold down the alt key and press and release the back key to the right of the trackball.  This will show you everything you have open some things like push to talk and the home screen cannot be closed.

Also if you surf the web a lot your phone stores recent pages and history.  Open your browser and hit the menu key select options and then cache options.  Clear all these fields.

In addition click on options then on status and then click the menu key and select database sizes.  See if there is anything in that list with a high number.

After all this pull you battery again with the phone on, leave it out for 30 seconds and then send us the file free number again

That's good we are improving. Did you look at your database sizes to see if there was something there taking up a lot of space?

I did but I didn't really understand what they meant or how to fix that problem

it looks like these are the big ones:

Address Book: 136/16.8K

Auto Text: 108/6.5K

Calendar 201/72.6K

Content Store: 54/10186.1K

everything else is pretty small

do I need to do something about any of these??

You're address book you probably can't do anything about. Your auto text are words that the BB automatically corrects when you spell them wrong. You have 201 calendar appointments?? You're a busy beaver. Now you're content store is HUGE. But unfortunately I don't kno what that holds. Mine is 40/1861.3. Let me do a search and see what exactly that is. I will get back to you.
