I have the Verizon 8230 and the phone is randomly losing time on the internal screen only. The only way to fix it when it occurs is to go to the options...date/time....update time. The problem is it will continue to do so every so many hours. This causes a big issue because I use my phone as an alarm clock and it is possible it will not go off when it needs to.
I am pretty tech savy. I work for Verizon and have had the 8830, 8330, 8130 and 9530. I am pretty sure this is a glitch specifically with this OS. The OS is v4.6.1.234. Also battery pulls will not resolve the issue. I have also wiped the phone and made sure to not have any additional software added to the phone.
Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
I haven't seen a post on this forum. If it were an OS glitch others would have posted.
A quick Google search found this one over at Crackberry forums: 8230 clock problem
It maybe specific to your device not the OS.
The only other thing I can think of is a low memory condition.
Do you monitor your file free status?
Best I could find!
Thanks,

I am experiencing this exact same problem with my 8220.v4.6.0.180
I just recently had to get a new 8220 because the bluetooth would not enabled; which was a major post on this forum from a previous time.
I have had the new phone for less than a week and the clock problem was the first thing that I noticed for obvious reasons.
Like you stated, this is only a problem with the internal clock, the external clock always displays the correct time (which is a life saver) but the internal clock is slow to keep up. Most of the time the clock will stay close to the time that you last saw when you updated it.
The first thing I did to try to resolve the problem was go to options, then date and time, I made sure I had the correct time zone which was Eastern(-5), then I double check the rest of the information like the date, and at the source which at the time, happend to be on blackberry.
After I checked to make sure all the information was correct I hit menu then "update time" then menu and "Save".
This fixed the problem right away! The internal and external time were both correct. But ofcourse about an hour later when I checked the time on the internal screen it had the wrong time, so I knew right away there was a problem. This time I went to the built in help section on the phone and choose troubleshooting date/time. It recommend that I try changing the source to "Network from blackberry or vise versa" so I changed it to Network thinking this would be better anyway; saved it and again everything was fixed. A hour later I was back in the same boat. I started to get a little fustarted at this point because I could not think of anything else, and quiet frankly did not want to try anything else, because I was happy that my bluetooth worked and couldn't be worried about anything else at the moment. But like another member stated, I use my phone as my alarm and I cant afford to be late if it doesn't go off on the time that it is suppose to.
I have only tried changing the settings from"blackberry to network to off" with no foever fix.
I have not wiped my device OS and loaded a new one, or the same OS, I choose not to do so because I have to many applications that I do not want to reinstall.
At first I thought this was also a problem with the OS, but if loading the OS from scratch does not fix this problem, than I have no idea what the problem might be.
Im sorry guys, I know I typed this long **bleep** post with no real resolution, but I just want to let you guys know that I will still be working on changing settings around to see what resolves this headache.

FWIW - On my 8220, the time was always slow until I checked: Options>Date/Time and switched the "Date/Time Source" to "Network." The default was Blackberry.
Best of luck.

Ok guys this issue has been FIXED for me!
After I called tmobile, long story short is the rep said that this may be something tmobile can fix over the air by sending an update to the phone. At the time I was not able to troubleshoot with them because I was on the same phone that has the issue talking to them. So I hung up and suffered with the problem for about another week.
I had some problems with a few application on my phone running a bit slow so I used a another application on my phone called Quick Pull to reboot my phone, and when it came back up it was like MAGIC, my internal clock was showing the right time. I thought something was wrong funny enough but I setup my alarm clock for 30min later just to test it out and guess what... IT WORKS it really really WORKS! lol
This was just yesterday! 7-15-09 when the magic happend for me.
Now im not saying that Tmobile over the air updated did not fix it, because i dont know if they sent it or not.
But this time a simple old fashion reboot did the trick!
So try it out and see if it works for you!
If not, try calling your provider from a phone other than your blackberry to see if they can send an over the air update to fix the issue.
Good luck my BB homies!
IT WORKS!!! AND IM BACK IN BUSINESS!
YES!!!
