Hi all,
I'm having problem with getting a GPS location fix
on my 8110. I have a data plan. google maps works.
But Options>Advance Options>GPS doesn't return
any result. It this system program broken?
Since an update today there is now only one GPS
data source: DEVICE GPS. There used to be a
another option I forgot what it was.

Conact your wireless operator and clarify does the GPS service is turned on for your account.
Google Maps do not utilize GPS sattelites. It shows location based on coordinates of the nearest wireless towers, as you can check it is less accurate than a device that works with GPS sattelites.

Thanks, I'll contact my att in the next day.

I contacted att and the tech person give me a number
to contact RIM. An automated voice from the RIM number
asks for Rim Partner number. The other options was to whip
out my credit card.
The ATT tech person suggests I use their navigator program.
They have nothing to do with the Options>Advanced Options>GPS
option part.
SO what I do really need to do to programmatically get a GPS FIX?
I thought using the JSR179(?) Location API was enough.
Please help.

ATT representative did a wrong step. You do not need to contact RIM with this question.
You need to clarify is GPS service included in your current data plan/contract with ATT.
If GPS is not included in your data plan/contract it won't work on your device.
