Headphone port being odd

I tried plugging up some Skullcandy FMJ headphones to my Pearl Flip and it only had sound from the right channel. However, when it's plugged half way sound comes from both channels but with a high pitched buzz.

(The Skullcandy Full Metal Jackets are the standard ones, not the iPhone/Blackberry compatible ones with the in-line microphone.)

Has anyone had that happen with other headphones?

I have tried battery pulls with no success.

Second set of headphones later and same issue... My Blackberry stereo handsfree set is at home so I can't quite test those at my dorm.

I also cleaned out the port so I don't believe that should be an issue either.

Please help! I miss using my Blackberry as a music player!

Re: Headphone port being odd

I've had this happen with my headphones.

The problem was in headphones port on device, where headphones cable was going to be connected.

If your get the same picture with another headphone set - take your blackberry to the repair shop for diagnostics and repair.

Re: Headphone port being odd

The hunch that a few people had on PinStack was that the headphone port was possibly damaged and they were correct...

I managed to swap with my vendor for another one and the new one works great!

Re: Headphone port being odd

After suffering the same problem following a core software upgrade I identified that it is only the TTY Support app thatis at fault, so a complete re-install is not required, just remove TTY support.

Hope this works for you too.

Good luck :smileyvery-happy:
