Headsets Not Working

[ Edited ]
I don't know what is happening. Neither my "wired" headset nor my bluetooth headset are working. When I plug in the "wired" headset, it acts as if it isn't plugged in. Same with the bluetooth. The phone will show that my Blackberry and bluetooth device are paired and connected, but my Pearl acts as if it isn't. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I need to do to get my Pearl to recognize both handsfree headsets?

Re: Headsets Not Working

I am having the same problem. It worked like.. 15 minutes ago. My phone was in my purse (as it has been for the past few months). I picked it up to make a call and heard nothing. I tried to play music and heard it faintly... eventually realizing that it was coming out of the phone opposed to my headset (as it had been earlier that morning).

I'm on a BB Curve. Please help!!!

Re: Headsets Not Working

I have the same problem with my headset and my 8130. My headset works fine for music, but not for phone calls. I found that if I answer a call and then unplug it and plug it back in, then sometimes it will work. Lame. I spent an hour on the phone with Customer Support; we tried several things with no luck. He suggested I take it to a Verizon store.

Bluetooth is also flaky, sometimes it works OK, sometimes it drops after a few minutes. (And yes, the bluetooth headset is all charged up.)

Re: Headsets Not Working

The blackberry customer support team from my cell phone provider claim that my headset jack is broken. They want me to send my phone in... but I kind of don't think it's worth it for my cell bc I have an ipod too. Kind of sucks though because bb's aren't cheap.

If you want a quick fix... try pulling it out of the jack just slightly. That works for me. But the second you stick it in your bag and it moves back into it's proper plugged in state, there goes your sound. people don't really hear me so well on it either.....

Regular headphones also work on my phone.... (not for calls.. just music).

[ Edited ]

I just posted this on a similar post:

I'm having a similar problem... my blackberry headset does not work properly. I mean.. it was working when I first got it-- and then all of a sudden, it stopped. It was cold outside, and I never really thought about it again. I was frustrated... and about a week ago I called tech support to inquire...

They siad my blacberry headset jack was most likely damaged, as:

  1. My boyfriend also has a blackberry, and I had the same problem with his out-of-box blackberry headset. (It would work, and then not work unless I pulled it out of the jack slightly).
  2. Regular headphones I use with my ipod worked just fine in my blackberry (curve, by the way).
  3.  My headset worked in a sales associate phone when I took it into the store. Granted... my store doesn't fix blackberries-- they just have you send them in.

Luckily... I'm under warently. I wish I weren't so in love with this phone... it seems to be really fragile. My last one was coming apart at the seams in the back around the battery come day 2....

... wait until you try to upgrade your phone's software...... whew. It's rough.

ps. it's working right now. i just gave it a go. i'm (obviously) indoors and sitting at the computer. wtf??   :manmad:

Re: Headsets Not Working

I had this problem!  i pressed the button on the wired headset while playing a video and the sound switched to my headset.  Give it a go!

Re: Headsets Not Working

Hi  - I just experienced exactly the same problem - got a new Blackberry 9700 Bold2 last Wednesday - headset worked fine ...... until this afternoon - tried plugging in during a call - no effect - all sound still through handset & only handset microphone picked up sound. Tried changing settings - no joy. Then saw kmaso1's post - tried pressing button during Video - but unfortunately no joy - so whilst video still running I pulled the battery & left the Bold to reboot with the headset plugged in - Hey presto the headset now works again !

:smileyvery-happy:

This seems to be an ad-hoc disabling of the ear jack software driver ?

Anyone from RIM online to provide a further insight ?

Re: Headsets Not Working

Got this fromfoursixteen member, but it worked for me... - plugging headphones into the blackberry headphone jack - play a song to make sure it plays through the headphones - *press stop on the playing song* - unplug the headphones - WAIT for 10 seconds or till you see the speaker symbol pop up - press call end button to return to main screen - press and hold '1' to dial to your voicemail and verify that voice is coming through the handset and not repeatedly switching back and forth between the headset and headphones. Hope this helps!
