Hi all! I was on the BB support site this morning and tried to download the latest software for my Pearl. My initial problem was that I was unable to upload anything to the device and I continued to receive a message saying that there was not enough space on the media card. I had a 8GB media card that was recognized by the device, but I was still unable to upload anything to it (even when I tried to increase the limit via the device manager options).
ANYWAY, I thought by updating my software, I would have better luck. Unfortunately, I didn't read the part where you shouldn't have the device connected while you are updating the software. When the pc prompted me to restart, I did and now the BB device manager freezes and submits an error report, I can't log into to IE because the same thing happens and my Pearl now displays the options menu in a white screen (looks like DOS) and will not allow me out of that screen. Did I completely screw up my device?
I tried reloading the software that came with the device (no luck) and now I just removed the software completely and am going to attempt to re-install it (with the device disconnected).
Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know what I can do?
thanks!!!

lexicondevil, Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.
On your BlackBerry device-- if you have open the Options screen, can you scroll down to THEMES, and select a different theme?
Try that, first, before anything.
From your description, it sounds like you might have upgraded the OS, and in the process removed the active theme, which is why the black and while DOS-like appearance is present.
Please report back your findings.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll look into some of the links that the other person posted as well. What's displayed on the screen is this:
BlackBerry Platform
3.4.0.25
AddressBook
Alarm
Calculator
and so on...
"THEMES" is not listed, however anything I try to access gives me a pop up error message that says:
"Error starting net_rim_bb_options_app:Module'net_rim_locationapi' not found"
and my screen goes back to that horrid white/DOS menu.
I'll read some of those other links though and see if there are any new suggestions here. Thanks again for the quick replies everyone!

Thanks again! I removed the BB hardware from my PC and reinstalled it. I also reinstalled the software update on my Pearl and was able to get out of that DOS screen by using your recommendation (changing the Theme).
Now, I just need to figure out my original problem... why I can't upload anything to my device when I have an 8GB media card that I just installed yesterday. Also, every single time I click on BB Device Manager it crashes in IE.
Thanks again for the help! At least I have my phone back!!

Try to be more specific. What exactly is it that you are trying to upload to your Media Card?
A song?
A ringtone?
An application or game?
A theme?
A movie?
A document file?
Or?

You shouldn't be accessing the Device Manager from Internet Explorer.
Read this, it will explain it all:

Thanks! I finally figured out the device manager and how to upload files. My problem is that when I need to download updates for the device, I crash every time. I'm going to download the latest version of IE and see if that helps.
thanks a million for all of your help!

oh, quite honestly, were I you, for now, forget IE and enjoy your device.
You don't need to it load files to the Media Card, and for some reason I think you are chasing rabbits. Enjoy your BlackBerry for now.
