Thanks and regards

Removing battery from the working device - it is a hard reset.
There is no programmatic analog for that operation.

ALT+Right SHIFT+DEL will perfrom a soft reset
There's also this application that looks like it may do it

Thnx for your repllies
This is right about Hard boot and soft boot...
See when we are removing an 3rd party applicaton from mobile it asking for restart/reboot and if we click ok then it restarted without pressing "Alt+shift+del". How is it done ?
I means without pressing "Alt+shift+del" I want to restart my BB at some instance. Is it possible ?
If you know then please reply...
Thnx Thakur

When you delete some applications the restart is requested by operating system.
It is not requested by an application to be removed.

As a newcomer to Blackberry I find this situation very odd. I have the new perl and whilst it is dramatically more reliable than my old windows phone, I have had 2 occasions where the bluetooth system misbehaved and I was unable to take calls in the car. This has normally occurred when the phone has been on and active for a few days and the only fix has been a hard reset. Dismantling the phone at 70mph is not ideal.
Clearly it is possible to do a hard reset - application installs/deletes do it all the time so why is there not an icon on the standard OS to do this?
I know there are apps available but aside from the fact that many don't appear to work on the latest OS's, why should I be forced to pay for a simple function that should be available from the menu?
It seems so obvious I'd be interested to hear Blackberry development's view - surely it would be easy to do?

Get QuickPull it simulates a battery pull and it's free. You can find it in AppWorld. I wish they'd make these things restart faster...it's almost as slow as my windows pc.

Wow, thanks! Was looking for an app like this for some time. Finally one that actually works! Pulling the battery is such a freaking pain!
