I can't hear out of my phone when someone calls me. I can only hear if I put the person on speaker. Is there a way to fix this?? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Welcme t the Frums
Is this all the time or occassional? What OS do you have? What carrier? You OS can be found by going to your OPTIONS key > then ABOUT > it is about the 3rd line down. For example, mine says 184.108.40.206

Try to cold-reset: Remove battery when your device is ON, wait a minute and push the battery back.
Does it help ?

Ok, let's fight on the problem.
Backup all your sensitive data via Blackberry Desktop Manager.
Is there an update available for your device model for your wireless provider ? Check it here
If so - download the RIM OS update for your wireless provider here
Install downloaded OS package on to your desktop computer.
Connect your device to your computer via USB cable.
Run Blackberry Desktop Manager Software and update OS on your device.

I hate to say this, but the very same thing happened to me over a year ago with my Pearl! The only way that I could hear someone speak over the phone was if I had it on speaker. Over the past year, I have had numerous phone conversations with Blackberry support (who told me this was a common problem). They had me try numerous things, but nothing worked. Eventually, I would tire of wasting my time and just live with the fact that I had a speaker phone Pearl. Recently, I got fed up, called once more and discovered that now I am out of warranty and still in a contract for 6 more months. They won't sell me a new phone unless I want to sign up for a new service contract! Unbelievable! (I have T-mobile, by the way.) So, I am stuck with a Pearl that I can only hear the phone on if it is on speaker. Not a problem if you don't mind never having a private conversation!
My solution? My mother is happy to take over my contract for the next 6 months, since her phone is now month to month, and I am buying an iPhone! No more Pearls for me! (Although, I will say that this problem could be limited to the 8100 series. Maybe the updated Pearl series doesn't have this flaw....)

I understand you, Lilyan.
Please note that iPhone has its own problems.
Before making decision about a certain phone model (iPhone, Motorola, Nokia, whatever) - I would recommend you to read customer reviews and opinions about technical capabilities and about the quality of support.
Many devices look very fancy but they are not making customers as happy as they want.
That's just my opinion. And good luck for you with your new phone
