Is my Pearl Unlocked?

I am not sure but I think that I may have unlocked my Pearl 8110 a couple of years ago.  Is there a way that I can tell?  I no longer use the phone but I was using with AT&T. If it is not unlocked, how can I do so?

Re: Is my Pearl Unlocked?

To determine if your BlackBerry is already "unlocked" or not:
1. On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card.
2. At that screen type MEPD (see note below) on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.
    * If your BlackBerry has a SureType keyboard (71xx, 81xx, 91xx devices) you will need to double-tap the P, so the actual keys entered become M E P P D.
3. Look for Network in the list.
4. If your device is "unlocked", it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it's still locked to that carrier.

If you need instructions on how to unlock your BlackBerry for use on a
carrier other than the one to which it is branded, check out BlackBerry
Unlocks

and read this link for instructions.

Re: Is my Pearl Unlocked?

My phone says Network Active.  However, the title at the top says SIM CARD: Security Dis..., then below it lists:

SIM: Disabled

Network Subset: Disabled

Service Provider: Disabled

Corporate: Disabled

Does that suggest my phone is still locked and if so, how do I unlock it since I don't use it with my AT&T account?

Thanks

It is locked. You need to click on my link above to BlackBerry unlocks and purchase an inexpensive unlock code. I have used that service many times, they are trustworthy and dependable and I can vouch for them.

Re: Is my Pearl Unlocked?

Hi, I have a Torch and have unlocked many BlackBerrys using the MEPD MEP2 method.  I've always gotten the message that network was "Disabled."  I just unlocked my new AT&T Torch by inserting a China Mobile SIM card and entering the unlock code.  For the first time, I got the message that the network was "Inactive."

I know that both "Disabled" and "Inactive" mean that the device is unlocked.  However, I am curious about when one message appears vs. the other.  Like most systems, I bet it's not random and something, perhaps small and irrelevant, triggers one message versus the other.

Does anyone know what causes one message vs. another to be generated by the device?  This is just curiosity as I know that both mean the device is unlocked.
