How do I fix JVM Error 102 on my Pearl 8230?

Unfortunately, if you dont have a backup of your device you are likely to loose any information on your BlackBerry.
To get your device up and running:
1.Download BlackBerry Desktop Software
2.Connect your BlackBerry to your computer
3.Desktop Software will show an error message saying it cannot communicate with the device
4.Click "Repair"
5.Allow the software to be reloaded to the device.
If Desktop Software does not show the connection error message, try connecting your phone to the computer without the battery. Once the update/loading screen appears put the battery back in.

Removing the battery worked. Fortunately I did have a back up, otherwise all would have been lost. Thanks for the help.
