Hi,
I just picked up the 8220, real excited until I've had to sit and reinstall the software 3 times, and download the no media manager one off the site, and yet I still cant get my 8220 to connect. I plug it in and Win xp recognizes it and I can see it in the device manager, but everytime I access device manager it says everything is disabled or disconnected. I've tried downloading the french usb-modem drivers from blackberry, tried version 4.5 desktop manager and yet nothing. I went into device manager in windows and unistalled the phone, then scanned to reinstall it and still nothing. Any thoughts?? before I give up?

Do you have a media card in the device?
Go to options.status.about and send the version of OS (looks like this 4.x.x.xxx)
You say it's got BOLD software on it?

Hi,
I would recommend the following:
I would do the following:
Use this link to uninstall the current DM
Download DM 4.5 without Media manager. MM is very unstable:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code
Download these USB drivers for 4.5
BlackBerry USB and Modem Drivers ENG (DM4.5 B13)
Here is the manual:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/deliverables/3392/Des
Cold boot the PC. Turn of all virus checkers and firewalls. Install the DM WITH FULL ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS ,and configure for Outlook
Start the DM pull the battery from the devie while it is ON, Replace and connect to USB while the device is loading, start the DM.
Connect and Sync.
Thanks, Please remember to resolve your thread. Put the check mark in the green box that contained your answer! Thanks |

Hi Bifocals,
Sorry for the delay on the response I was away on business, but anyways I tried everything that you suggested, cleaned the registry, ran the uninstallers, installed the new software without media player and the usb drivers. etc... Still nothing... Here is one thing, when I do plug in the phone the computer makes a double chime instead of a single chime. This suggests to me there is a problem with the usb? The device manager does not recognize it, neither does the desktop manager. I went into system settings and even uninstalled the listing for the smartphone when it comes up under the hardware manager. Still a double beep. Any suggestions ??
