'Media card has been inserted that contains errors'

'to correct these errors please use a disk checking facility on a computer'

Hi there,

This message comes up when I turn on my Blackberry 8100 Pearl.  The media card icon is also missing from the media file, as are all my pictures.

It happened after my 3 yr old was playing with the phone . . . .

Does anyone have any ideas what it means?  Or how I should try and fix it?

Even if I could get all my photos back I would be over the moon.

Thanks,

Techno-phob, Taylor!

Re: 'Media card has been inserted that contains errors'

First, try this: Remove you media card and reinsert it.

All the BlackBerry to reboot and start up and look at the Media icon again for pictures.

If still nothing, look at the media card via your connection to the USB and your PC.

1. Go to Options >> Media Card

(some themes or BlackBerrys may call this "Settings >> Media Card")

2. Check the following settings (if they are not listed this way, then change to reflect the following:

a) Media Card Support: On

b) Mass Storage Mode Support: On

c) Auto Enable Mass Storage: Yes

3. Save the settings and exit

Now from your PC, you should be able to view the Media Card, and it should be listed as a drive named "BlackBerry" in your "My Computer" listing on your PC.

If still unable to view, please post back here.

Re: 'Media card has been inserted that contains errors'

Hi, thanks for your help.

I have done the above, but on the blackberry it has the following message:

Media Card support: On

Encryption Code: None

Mass Storage Mode Support: On

Auto Enable Mass Storage support mode when connected: Yes

The media card is not available because Mass Stoage Mode is currently in use.

On my PC, I can see the Blackberry file and in the Pictures folder, it has BBThumbs.dat DAT file 77KB.  Which I can't seem to open.

eek!?
