My Mobile Network connections keeps shutting off

When I go to compose a test message it tells me the radio s off. I go to the Manage Connections app and it says the Mobile network is off. I can turn it backl on but it doesn't stay on. How can I fix this?

Re: My Mobile Network connections keeps shutting off

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

Has it always been this way or is this recent behavior?

Regardless, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Best!

Re: My Mobile Network connections keeps shutting off

It is just a recent happening. I tried the hard boot and it didn't help, but thanks for trying. Anything else I can do?

Re: My Mobile Network connections keeps shutting off

I don't know if this has to do with anything, but the network connection usually says 1XEV and now it's 1xev.... Can I fix that at least?

Re: My Mobile Network connections keeps shutting off

Ahhh...that is very important. Lower case (1xev) means your BB sees the network, but isn't connected. Only when you have all upper case (1XEV) do you have full connectivity to your carrier network. Are you on VZW? If so, try this:

Dial *228, select Option 1

Dial *228 again, select Option 2

If you are not on VZW, then skip this as I don't know the codes for any other carriers for this.

Then reboot your BB in exactly this manner:

With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.

If you still don't have all upper case 1XEV, then try this:

Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > (it does not matter which line is highlighted) BBKey > Register Now

After you receive the registration message, check the 1XEV again. If still not all upper case, call your carrier as something isn't right on their end.

Re: My Mobile Network connections keeps shutting off

When dialing 911 it registers to the network and it should restore you signal strength on your handheld device. This goes for any device as well.

Re: My Mobile Network connections keeps shutting off

guys..i had the same prob a few days back..and i figured it out..it happens so as one of ur app need data coverage to run itself..if ur network word is NOT CAPITAL, it means there's no data coverage and so the radio signal will switch off no matter how many times u try to turn it back on.. the only way to find out which app is causing this is by 'security wiping' ur device and then reinstalling one app at a time..and this must be done without a data coverage..

hope this helps guys..
