My phone says my Pearl 8110 does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Windows Live Messenger

Is that possible? I really need my messenger on my phone

Hey jojokk,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Thanks for the question.  Windows Live Messenger requires OS 4.5 and higher.  What version of software are you using on the BlackBerry® Pearl™?  Go into Options>About and 3rd line down.

I look forward to your reply.

Re: My phone says my Pearl 8110 does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Windows Live Messenger

Thank you so much for answering!!!!!...

Its a v 4.3. I saw info on the site about updating my version...at the begining of the update it said that if i did it I would have to connect wirelessly i think. This confused me...does it mean that I would have to be connected to a wireless connection to use my phone? my phone cannot do that.... so i stopped the process.

Please help, thank you!

Hey jojokk,

Thanks for the reply.

The best way to check for updates of the device software is going to www.blackberry.com/update.  But make sure you create a backup using BlackBerry® Desktop Software.

Let me know if you know if you have any more questions.

What exactly does the wireless thing mean?

I'm not sure what you mean by wireless.  Some BlackBerry® smartphones can update wirelessly, but I suggest doing it from a computer.

Cheers.

Re: My phone says my Pearl 8110 does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Windows Live Messenger

It says:

Warning: After completing the loading operation you must activate your device wirelessly to continue to send and receive messages and use other blackberry services. If you do not want to continue with this loading operation press Cancel.

That is the final prompt before i press Finish to start installing v.5. I'm not sure if it means i'd have to always be connected to a wireless network to use my phone to send n receive msgs etc...which would not be possible for me so I pressed Cancel. Is that whatt it really means? can i go ahead with the installation?
