New user needs email advice (not BES)

Help, I feel like I've embarked on a degree course in BlackBerrying!

I'm a personal user (a freelancer working from home).

I want to be able to see all my received AND SENT emails from both my PC and the BB. I don't know how to set up the BB to do this?

I managed to get my device hooked up to one of my emails, but my problem is that the test reply I sent from the BlackBerry hasn't been saved on my server. Therefore, I won't know how I replied to messages unless I look on the phone - that's less than ideal, of course.

I can't see any further settings in the BB, which would allow me to 'forward' replies to myself. I thought of copying everything to an Orange BlackBerry email address, then found out there's no POP facility ... so I still wouldn't be able to get a full email history in Outlook on my PC. Don't want to use the Redirector, coz that will fail if the PC does.

There must be a relatively straightforward way to get all my emails copied into both devices!

Question is ... how??

Tech stuff:

I have a Blackberry account with Orange UK.

My PC uses Outlook 2003 with Win XP.

My email accounts all run on a Linux server.

Really appreciate any pointers, common sense advice and/or solutions!

Re: New user needs email advice (not BES)

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

A few things:

1) Not all email services are capable of allowing BIS to place items sent from the BB into the server-based Sent Items...see this KB:

  • KB05133 Email reconciliation features for the BlackBerry Internet Service

  • If your email service is not capable of doing so, then nothing else you do can override that fact.

2) You must configure for full OTA reconciliation between your BB and your email service:

  • KB13509 How to reconcile email messages between the messaging server and the BlackBerry smartphone

  • But, again, configuring this will be moot if your email service does not allow BIS to provide these functions to you (as per item 1 above).

Good luck and let us know!
