To Whom it Concerns [and thanks in advacne to those with advice],
I have acquired a Blackberry Peral 8100 from a friend who did not want her phone anymore and got a new Blackberry for herself. She was [and still is] part of the ATT service provider.
I am currently with T-Mobile. I was successfully able to unlock the phone; however, when I put my SIM card in, the phone "searches for network" and then states "no service" is available. I have never had an ATT contract. My current contract is T-Mobile. How do I obtain service? And this is my "basic" service, i.e. Making/receving phone calls and/or texts. Thank you all for your time.

Do you have a BB Data Plan on your Tmobile Account?

Are you certain you "unlocked" the BlackBerry for use on the TMO network?
Does your SIM screen look like this, in this link?

And no, I do not have a Data Plan. How would I acquire such a thing?
Call Tmobile. You want the BlackBerry Data Plan @ $19.99/month if you have a voice plan.

No, the Data Plan is neccesary for email and data, etc.
You shoud be able to use the voice and text otherwise. Sometimes, changing the SIM will solve the problem, you can swap the sim for free at any local TMO store.
