Question: 8120, wi-fi and free minutes ?

My 8120 connects automatically to my router at home and work.  It's enabled for HotSpot on T-Mobile as well.  I hope someone can help with two questions:

1. If a store features HotSpot service, do I connect to it automatically without charge ?

2. If I'm connected to a wi-fi network, are my calls "minutes-free" ?

Re: Question: 8120, wi-fi and free minutes ?

1. You will connect automatically if its a unsecure hotspot.

2. Yes, all calls initiated via WiFi are free with T-Mobile. This includes if your start the call via WiFi and then move and automatically switch to the cellular network. Because the call started on WiFi the entire call is minutes free.

I called customer service today, and they confirmed what you said, but added that to make those wi-fi calls free I need to sign up to the wi-fi plan at $9.99 per month.

I couldn't find any reference to this on the T-Mo site... it's very frustrating to talk to different customer service people and get different answers to the same question...
