Sync inbox and subfolders

My mail comes off a Microsoft Exchange Server. In Outlook I have sub-folders to my Inbox. When I sync or reconcilliate only those sub-folders that I have dragged and dropped messages into (and only those after the initial sync) are visible. Sub-folders that have a rule set up in outlook for messages to directly go to those do not display the messages; however I can see all the sub-folders. I would love to sync all messages for all the sub-folders and be able to view them. FYI I have the default 30days setting in the phone and all messages in Outlook are only 3 weeks old.

Re: Sync inbox and subfolders

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I'm going to guess that you are on Blackberry Enterprise Service (as opposed to OWA via BIS). You may need to work with your BES admins for all of this:

  • KB04297 How to configure folder redirection to receive email messages delivered to folders other than the Inbox

But, I'm not quite sure exactly what you are seeking. If you are seeking to see, on your BB, messages in those folders that already existed at the time your BB was initially configured on BES, then that's not completely possible. Some may be able to be made available on your BB, but BB's just aren't designed as a complete replica of the mailbox...rather, they are designed to help in working with new emails. For some older messages, have your BES admins review this as well:

  • KB13292 Not all email messages are received on the BlackBerry smartphone after the enterprise activation process

Good luck!

Re: Sync inbox and subfolders

Hi

Thanks for that. Yes I am off a BES. Your reply has really cleared up my doubts. So going forward It does sync and have found the option of viewing all mail in the inbox which shows all new incoming mail (even the ones that have rules in Outlook) and then when I view the respective folders the mail is in the respective folders. I suppose the more I use the Pearl I will get accustomed to it's features and capabilities.

Once again do appreciate you clarifying my doubts.

Re: Sync inbox and subfolders

Well, are you saying that emails that were moved by an Outlook rule to a subfolder are showing in both your BB Inbox as well as the subfolder? If so, then you will want to talk to your BES admins about enabling Hard Deletes:

  • KB04853 How to enable hard deletes on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server

That will make it so that those emails only show in the subfolder on the BB and are not duplicated.

Good luck!
