This happens when dirt goes into your trackball. You can try cleaning them but this is not recommended by RIM. You need to be careful while doing so. Check this link for step by step trackball cleaning.

YES! Thank you, Peter8100, for the simple, elegant solution. I was dreading having to figure out how to do everything by only moving to the left until I could get my Curve replaced - A little rubbing alcohol on a Q-Tip did the trick! THANK YOU!

This worked wonders!!! Thanks for the advice. I can upgrade in 3 weeks and I was dreading going throught the next 3 weeks without being able to scroll to the right. Thanks again!!
