This happens when dirt goes into your trackball. You can try cleaning them but this is not recommended by RIM. You need to be careful while doing so. Check this link for step by step trackball cleaning.

This happened to me with my Pearl on multiple occassions. It usually didn't last very long. If its lasting more that a day or two, I'd take it in and swap it out for a new one if you're still covered under warranty. I've always been scared to take out the trackball. Whenever I take things apart, they do not go back together. But if you're feeling adventurous, go for it. I know there are some great tutorials out there. Thanks for the link tanzim.

Rubbing alcohol on a "Q-tip"....you will be amazed at the results

you can get a new trackball assembly and locking ring on ebay for about $5 - $6 delivered to your house.  They work great

YES! Thank you, Peter8100, for the simple, elegant solution. I was dreading having to figure out how to do everything by only moving to the left until I could get my Curve replaced - A little rubbing alcohol on a Q-Tip did the trick! THANK YOU!

This worked wonders!!! Thanks for the advice.  I can upgrade in 3 weeks and I was dreading going throught the next 3 weeks without being able to scroll to the right.  Thanks again!!
