I can't find a forum that address this, so I'd appreciate at least knowing if there are instructions or another discussion about it.
I'm new to Blackberry. Also, I'm using it without a data plan, as I don't want or need that much accessibility, if that makes a difference (to the problem, not to whether I'm dorky).
My issue is that once you get into any application--calendar, contacts, options, etc.--the black and white menus are jarring and the dead white background is hard on my middle-aged eyes no matter what font I use. I'd like to at least change the background color on the menus. I can't find any option that would allow me to do that. Is there some app that will do that for me? Remember, I can't download anything on the web, if that makes a difference.

If you check under Options | About which version of the OS are you using? Does it say 4.5?
If you change to another theme (Options | Theme) do the colors look the same? I believe the way what your describing looks depends on what theme is selected on the device.

Here's exactly what's on the 'About' screen:
v22.214.171.124 (Platform 126.96.36.199)
The phone came with two themes: Precision Silver and Precision T-Mobile. Neither of them changes the color or appearance of the menus, only the appearance of the icon-filled initial screens.
I haven't shopped for other themes yet, but it's hard to figure out how to tell if any of them change anything except the pretty icons or the background for the icons. Any suggestions would help...
