Video problems after 4.5 upgrade

Ever since I upgraded my Alltel 8130 to os 4.5 I cant play videos. I have read other posts stating youtube and similar videos no longer play but mine no longer plays videos made with my phone. I only get a "this video is of unsupported format" error message. How could a video made by my BB not be suppoted? Has anyone else encountered this problem or perhaps know of a solution besides downgrading? I really dont want to downgrade and loose my MMS capibilities again.

Re: Video problems after 4.5 upgrade

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Shoot a test 10 sec. test video.

Go to the main media menu. Press menu, select explore.

The file should be on the media card under Blackberry\video.

The file should be setup as follows:

Vid00001.3GP size 152KB (approx.)

What do you see for your file and where are your storing it?

Thanks,

Re: Video problems after 4.5 upgrade

Thanks for the reply. I followed your directions. The file is stored in /Media Card/Blackberry/videos. The file name is VID 00006.3GP.rem It lists the size as 0.0 kb. I didnt have this problem before upgrading and Im pretty sure I didnt change any settings on where files should be stored.

Re: Video problems after 4.5 upgrade

Hi,

The .rem extension indicates that you are using encryption for the file.

Unless you have sensitive data on your device there should be no need for

encryption. In fact if you are using Content protection, your device will be

much slower.

Go to options, media card, and verify option Encryption mode. It should be set

to none. Also check under security, general options, Content protection.

It should be set to disabled.

I have attached an article regarding this .

Thanks,

Re: Video problems after 4.5 upgrade

Once again, thank you. The content protection was disabled under security > general options but it was enabled in the media card options. Im not sure how that happened but all is well now :smileyhappy:

Re: Video problems after 4.5 upgrade

My BB Bold broke and I had to do a swap with my service provider

now my video doesn't play

it does have a ".rem" extension

I tried the process in this thread but cannot set encryption to none
