Re: blackberry 8100

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

"Unlock" refers to several different functions...can you clarify which you are looking for?

Thanks.

Re: blackberry 8100

Oh...yes...that changes everything...hence, can you provide a complete description of your symptoms? Any lights lit? Any response to any key presses? If it's completely dead, have you charged it for at least 2 hours?

Details help...a lot...

Re: blackberry 8100

I admire your economy with words...really helps with the diagnostic process. We are a long way from your original assumption btw...the symptom you describe has nothing to do with a locked device...

I find a KB that discusses a sequence of 2 flashes, wait, 2 flashes, repeat...but not 3 then 2. Here is what I suggest:

1) Batt Pull Reboot

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

2) Put your BB onto a wall charger for at least 2 hours. Then try to boot it. Be patient.

3) Find a known good and known fully charged battery...try it in your BB

4) Try your battery in a known good BB

5) If all of that fails, then it's likely that the information in the KB I found is what you will need to do:

  • KB04596 BlackBerry smartphone does not turn on and the LED flashes

Good luck and let us know!

Re: blackberry 8100

You will need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:

http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F

If JL_Cmder does not work, follow this instructional:
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_to_do_next_if_Jl_Cmder_will_not_connect_and_wipe

Both of those links will walk you through completely what you need to do.

Good luck.
