blackberry pearl 8130 battery drained

the battery is completly dead, so we plug it into a charger and it shows the battery with a lightning bolt through it, meaning its charging.

then it does that for about 5 minutes and then it tries to turn itself on. which is too much for it since the battery is drained. it brings up the main screen for a half a second and says "battery drained turning off handheld" then the phone shuts off and doesn't continue charging at all. so i unplug, take out battery, and try again, and the same thing happens every time.

is there any way to charge this phone without it turning itself on??? i have only had the phone for 3 months and i bought it brand new from my alltel dealer. any ideas?????

thanks

Re: blackberry pearl 8130 battery drained

Normally they do not try to power on automatically like that. Very odd.

I've never seen that. Usually you have to remove the battery to reboot or at least use the power on button.

Try this, while it is charging before it can attempt it's on power on, remove the battery a few seconds, and replace it. Now, if it will, leave it charge a long time, several hours.
