call logs disappearing

My call log is set to record "all calls" .  For some reason the log is occasionally wiped clean.  Info on the phone says these calls are supposed to stay recorded for 30 days.  Any ideas as to what is happening?

Re: call logs disappearing

HI and welcome to the forums!

This is almost always caused by a low memory condition.

Please go to OPTIONS - STATUS and send the file free and file total numbers.

Thanks

Re: call logs disappearing

File free is 7454836 bytes and File Total is 50462720 bytes, but this was after I deleted a fair number of emails today.  I'm not sure what the memory was before I did that.  I do have a  1 G micro SD card installed, but maybe my pictures are not loading on to it.  How do I check that?  I do know I put about 20 songs on it, but I transferred the songs directly to the SD card with the blackberry pc software.   How do I make sure the pictures are saved on the SD card?   Thank you for your help1

Re: call logs disappearing

To make sure pictures are stored on the card, go into the camera and then go to Options and make sure the path is set to the media card.  Also, you should follow my instructions for optimizing your BB's memory.

Re: call logs disappearing

Hi,

You have low free memory left on your device. .

Do you have a lot of third party applications on your BB weather, icall, bbalerts etc?

I do not know your experience level, so if you know this I'm sorry but please read and let me

know if this applies.

Most people close the applications by pressing the escape or red key. This does not close the applications.

Each application has a CLOSE option. For instance if you are in the calendar hit the menu key (spotted key) and scroll down to the bottom CLOSE is listed. Go through each application and press close. Go into the browser press menu and options select cache operations clear all categories and hit escape it will say cleaning memory. See if you have the following option:

Go to options - security - memory cleaning - enable it. The BB will now clean memory when idle for 5 minutes.

you will have an icon on you screen for memory cleaning make sure you press it. Make sure you use the CLOSE button each time you are done with an application.

If you follow these steps listed above in the link and keep up with your memory your phone will operate smoothly.

Please let us know if you need help with any of the steps.

Thanks

To check where your media files are on the device, go to media menu key explore  you should see media card and device memory.

Click on meda card and keep drilling down to see your media files. Then select device memory and do the same. If you find media in

device memory, move them to the media card.

Re: call logs disappearing

Thank you, I did what you suggested and I now have 103345552 bytes free.  How may bytes do I need to keep the bb from deleting call logs and messages?

Re: call logs disappearing

Hi, yes, I added a number I guess.  Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you...I had to get some sleep!  Right now my memory is showing  10,337, 462 bytes  free.  Sometimes this number goes down into the 6,000,000 byte range.   Where does it have to be to prevent the call logs from being deleted?  It happened again today...also, is there a way to change the priorty levels of how and when logs and messages get deleted?    I like to use my call log for dialing...my most called numbers are usually right there, and also nice for calling back people or business's that I've recently called without having to search my address book.     THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP!

Re: call logs disappearing

You want to shoot for no less than about 15,000,000 and preferably abour 20,000,000.  Use the link in the post above.

Re: call logs disappearing

I'm having a similar issue.

I noticed yesterday that all of my emails and SMS messages, save for a few I had saved on my sim card from my previous phone, had disappeared, and my call log was gone.  I've gone through all of the methods listed above to clear up memory (aside from deleting my unused languages - I can't figure out how to do that) and I have 14,095,760 bytes free.  My call log still disappears less than five minutes after making or receiving a call.  How can I fix this?

I noticed something odd when looking at my media card - I have all my photos being saved on it, as well as any ringtones I've added, but it still says that I have 1.8/1.8 gigs free on the media card.  If they're being saved on the device anywhere, I can't tell where, so I'm not sure how to fix that.
