Every time I try to put any type of file on the 8220 micro sd card it tells me that i need to put the card in the phone. so i put the card in the phone and try to do it again, and it prompts the command to put it in again. this phone has been an ongoing problem. i just recieved a new one because the external speakers didn't work in the last one. Can you please shed some light on this situation?

Go to Options-Advanced Options-Media card
Turn the "Mass storage mode support" to ON.
Connect your device to your computer via usb-cable. In "My computer" there is a new removable drive appear.
This new removable drive represents your sd-card from your device.
When you'll connect your device to computer later - make sure that device keyboard is unlocked.
And note that you cannot access files on sd-card from the device - while it is connected via USB-card to your computer. Disconnect the cable to access sd-card files from your device.

Please clarify - You've formatted your card by blackberry device but this card cannot be read. Am I right ?
Is your card available if you turn it to card reader and connect it to your desktop computer ?
With my sd-card (Kingston MicroSDHC) I formatted it in Windows(with FAT32 option set in "Format disk" dialog).
And it recognized successfully and works ok.
