The problem is on Microsoft side. Why do they require a specific OS for a mouse.

Great news, folks!  I'm beta testing OS2.0, and the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 works like a charm with this OS.  Even better news--the scroll wheel works as well!  I also have an Apple Magic Mouse, which works with the Playbook under OS 1.7 or 2.0, but the "virtual" scroll wheel of that mouse does not work under either operating system.
