Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

Good News folks!

This morning I tested two types of cords on our classroom projection systems.  Both the micro-HDMI to VGA and the micro-HDMI to regular HDMI worked to project through the respective systems.  It looks like I have to fiddle with the Powerpoint files a bit but everything looked fine (including a couple of videos and Angry Birds to test resolution).

We also have some Smartboards, but I haven't located the software for that yet.  We wanted to try playing life-size Angry Birds.

BTW: our systems have separate audio amplification.  The HDMI ran sound through the projector, but a separate cable from the headset jack worked much better.

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

keep in mind that Angry birds through the HDMI has a definition of 1024x600. On the other hand, the video application, or "Need For Speed Undercover" version  2.1 are able to give 1280x720 through the HDMI (if you remove the mirror mode of course).

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

Cable has arrived.

The definition is good, but it all happens to be enshrouded in a pale shade of green. It's not such a big deal when the projector has a colour correction menu, but it is a major problem when this option is lacking. Unless you really need it, I think it's not worth buying it.

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

I have not had any color problems.  The green shade you mentioned is a problem I had with a projection system in a different classroom with a desktop PC connected to a ceiling projection system.  I don't think it has anything to do with BlackBerry or the HDMI connection.

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

Sorry, I didn't mention it again, but I was referring to the cable I described in the first post of this thread: it's a Micro HDMI to VGA cable, so I use it to connect the playbook to VGA projectors.

Bye,

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

We have a variety of connections in our classroom building.  Some rooms have just VGA, some have been updated with HDMI, some have Smartboards.  I was able to connect to the projectors with either VGA or micro-HDMI to regular HDMI without much trouble. (Until I discovered the annoying "goes to sleep every 5 minutes" design flaw.)  The color problem you mentioned was in a classroom with an older setup -- desktop to projector through VGA.

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

I just ordered one of these, working great so far. I have used the VGA connection on my TV, my church projector, and a projector at work. I see no color issue. I do know from previous experience with color on VGA going out that a bad VGA cable or poor connection at the pin can cause this. Have you tried it on other projectors/monitors yet? If green is what you get on everything, I would ask Samsung to replace it. It is nice not dealing with any male to female adaptors!

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

Have you tried different resolutions - I had a pink / purple type hew on one of our projectors at work ...only one ...the other ones were ok ...but eventually got rid of it with one of the resolution settings
