Micro HDMI to VGA

Hi, I'm about to order a Samsung Micro HDMI to VGA adapter:

http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/laptops-accessories/AA-AH1NAMB/US

Unlike the Hp adapter, it shouldn't need any other cable to connect the Playbook with a projector. Has anyone already tried the solution? Could you confirm that works?

Many thanks,

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

the picture seems strange. What you need for a direct connection between the PlayBook and the projector is a cable microHDMI (Male) - VGA (male).

the picture seems to be VGA (female).

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

Thanks Xandrex,

Yes, the item in the picture is a male micro HDMI-to-female VGA, but I think this is fine, because usually projectors in offices are already provided with a male cable to connect an input to their port. The problem I'm concerned with is that you need a power unit embedded into the cable. That's why the Hp cable works. The problem with that cable is that it has a normal HDMI input, so you need another adaptor to connect it to the Playbook...

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

To me the concept looks the same. I have the HP version and have made it work through a series of adpaters and patch cords. From the site I went to from your initial posting, it looks like all you need is the standard male to male patch cord that (like you have said) comes with most / all projectors. I think you will be good to go with less cost than than the HP

Thanks, I'll let you know if the theory is correct as soon as the cable arrives.

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

Hope this works. The semester has started and I'm tired of setting up a laptop in each class. I'm ordering the Samsung cable through Amazon.

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

I am also exploring this as an option to connect our playbook to our LCD projector. I did not realize that more than one cable is needed. Is this the cable? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/6FT-VGA-Male-HDMI-Male-Heavy-Duty-Cable-PC-TV-/150641042387?pt=Video_Games_Ac...

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

You'll need a MICRO-HDMI.  The cable you show is regular HDMI

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

So, I would need Micro-hdmi and then the hdmi to vga? Is there an adapter in between? If it is too complicated I am not interested but I am curious to find out in the first place/ Thanks for helping.

Re: Micro HDMI to VGA

Samsung has a micro-HDMI to VGA.  I've ordered one of those, but it was more expensive than what was available on ebay.
