Have a new PlayBook and am eager to use it for work presentations. My projector is reasonably new (~ 1year) and does NOT have an HDMI connection but it does have a USB input. I've tried to connect my PlayBook to the projector using the USB-micro USB cable that came with the PlayBook. I then get a pop-up message on the PlayBook stating
"Please launch the "PlayBook Drivers Installer" on your computer if it hasn't automatically started, yet.
BlackBerry Desktop Manager lets you sync media and back up your device and more. To download, visit www.blackberry.com/desktop/"
When I disconnect the USB from the projector, this message disappears. I have checked my PlayBook software (latest version loaded it tells me), tried to find this driver on or via the desktop software and on App world as well as on BlackBerry.com and cannot come up with anything or any topic that mentions this problem?
Any help would be appreciated! First presentation is in a week and I'd rather not lug the laptop.

What model projector is it? i don't think the usb connection on it is designed for video...perhaps a wireless mouse, pointer, etc.

It's an NEC NP62. I think you are right that the USB port is for speakers or a mouse (that's what we've used it for up to now - I was just hopeful....) Available ports are:
Computer In
Video In
S-Video In
Audio In
PC Control
USB

Amazing. I've got the same projector! You won't be able to use the usb connection for video. You'll have to use a HDMI adapter for that projector since it doesn't have a HDMI input.

Thanks! I'd like more details on the adaptor you use that works if you don't mind? mini-HDMI to computer or S-Video? Where did you find it?

I don't have the adapter, but if I were to get one, go with
http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Composite-S-Video-Conve
I don't have a playbook (yet) but you would connect the Playbook to the converter with a HDMI Micro Cable
and the converter would connect to the projector with either svideo or component cable.
