Battery life due to fake power off

I just got my first Tablet.
First problem icon missing easy fix just by moving them to the next screen on the right the missing icon appeared.

The little problem is the battery life.  We need an update to fix that.

If you press power button and release immediately OR use the battery icon, you’ll get
on screen the (restart standby and power off options).

No problems with the restart option. 
The standby mode no problems, it will only turn the *screen back light* off, leaving the screen finger sensor running.
 
The problem is the on screen * power off option*. 
It only makes the screen color turn all black and also turns off all sensors specially the touch sensors. 
The playbook is still powered up.  In a dark room you’ll see that the *screen back light* is still on.

Agree with all that except the last line. The screen goes right off after 30 seconds or so.

Standby on Playbook is not standby as we know it, Captain, it's just resting its eyes. Never leave on Standby over night without charger in place. If you want to conserve power whilst on walkabout, use Flight mode, as it is now called, to turn off both wireless devices. Then it will get a bit of shuteye.

Still on after 3 hours.  This morning was off after 30 second.
