Hi

I have a PB which developed a falut. I've only had it two months, and one day it just stopped charging (i'd been using the micro usb port and charger, not the magnetic port).

Anyway, as It was only two months old and under warranty, i contacted RIM, and it got sent back to them.

They have told me the micro usb port is damaged and I have to pay 99 euros to have it repaired!!!

This is incredible. I have not damaged it, inserted the charger the wrong way, abused it or anything. It's under warranty.

Why am I being told to pay 99 euros????

Has anyone else experienced this?

Many people have had this happen and the cause was inserting the plug incorrectly.

I am having the exact same issue. They also told me that my hdmi port was damaged, but i have never used my hdmi port.

Maybe you (or someone from your family) tried to plug USB cable to HDMI port, did you not?

Have you got anywhere with RIM regarding your issue.

I am still having problems with them insisting I have to pay to have the usb port repaired. I know 100% i have not inserted the charger the wrong way, so I do not see why i should pay to have a two month old PB repaired!

Their customer service quite frankly stinks.

I have also come across the similar situation, I am using blackberry phone for more than 2 years and there is no way I can damage my playbook micro usb, it got damaged by itself,but even during warranty period also redingtion indai told me they cant do it under warranty and gave me a bill for 3100+tax, but when I spoke to the international cust care they quickly realised the issue as if the issue has been reported by many users,

To my utter surprise, blackberry has replaced my playbook with a newone, this has come as a shocker to me,anyway thanks to blackberry for doing so,. I have got my new playbook on 04-Sep-2012.

I'm still having problems with RIM refusing to repair my playbook under warranty. I'm wondering if it makes a difference what country you are in. I am in Spain.
