Rim is saying that they have banned sideloading of androids apps for the blackberry playbook is this for real or is it just a rumor?

I have the latest beta of 2.1 on my Playbook and I can still sideload apps.

What they ARE doing is restricting side loading of "for purchase" BlackBerry apps... to hold down on the piracy of apps which are produced by a developer for commercial use.

Really and you have no problems sideloading android apps? I'm iffy about upgrading to 2.1...

I second what JSanders said. However, if they are free apps they will sideload just fine. I have two Playbooks with 2.1 and I use the DDPB application to sideload apps with no problem.

Cool i sideload using terminal with my macbook do you think i will have a ptoblem?

Can't speculate, but RIM has not stated anything about killing side-loading altogether.

I've never used a Mac to sideload. Nothing changed with the beta version of 2.1 so, based on that I would say no problem. Your results may vary.

I'm using Mac. Sideloading with blackberry-deploy works fine for me.
